Hello,
Welcome to the website for Holly Lodge. My name is Chris and I am the Responsible Individual for the home.
My Background
I am a qualified teacher and highly experienced and qualified child and adolescent
psychologist. I have spent my entire professional life working with vulnerable children and
young people (CYP) with social, emotional and mental health needs to improve their life
chances.
My Role and Responsibilities
Holly Lodge will function and feel like a real home, which is how it will be successful in
including new referrals. How it manages the unique differences of being a residential
children’s home as well as a ‘home’ will be key to its success with helping the children and
young people leave the home feeling better about themselves and with the evidence to
justify these beliefs. It is my responsibility to ensure that both aspects are in place
consistently.
Holly Lodge as a real ‘home’
We want each CYP to feel that Holly Lodge is a home for them. This will mean different
things to each CYP but there will be common themes- feeling safe, valued, understood and
listened to, part of family who look out for each other, a place where there are rules,
boundaries, consequences and rewards applied consistently and fairly, where they can be
themselves without fear, where they can have fun and learn and where they will have their
basic needs met without question.
Holly Lodge as a place of positive change
In order to make progress and have positive experiences, I believe that children and young
people need to feel that:
If these are in place as much as possible and as consistently as possible, the child or young
person will be receptive to experiences and will receive them as positive where this is
intended. From this, positive change can occur.
Thank you for taking the time to look at our website. I hope you find it helpful. If you would
